The Island of Bohol is a province within the Visayas, which form the island state of the Philippines together with the other two groups of Luzon in the north and Mindanao in the South. It is appropriate southeast of Cebu, southwest of the island of Leyte and north of Mindanao.
The Visayas are divided in 3 regions which are: Western Visayas, central Visayas and Eastern Visayas. The island of Bohol with the capital Tagbilaran is with its area of 4.117 km and a coast of 261 km the 10th biggest island of the Philippines and has about 1.015.000 inhabitants. The main island is surrounded by 70 smaller islands, whose biggest is Panglao on the opposite site of Tagbilaran city and Lapining in the northeast. From the south coast you can see Camiguin which is 54 km away with its volcano which is already counted to Mindanao.

The island is a mixture of natural and white beaches and wonderful dive-spots.
For tourists purposes and developed beaches only the Bohol pre-aged island Panglao is famous, a smaller island south of Bohol, which is connected with Bohol by a bridge. Here you can find small hotel plants and resorts directly on or near the beach, usually in form of bamboo styled bungalows or apartments as well as the “Bananaland Cottages”.
The beaches are from very quality, based on white coral sand and turquoise-coloured water.
The coast of Bohol is drawn by cliffs and craggily declivities, which are suitable only conditionally for bathing. In the north of the island, near the coast around the lively place Ubay there are hundreds smaller islands and sandy beaches with reefs.
